Abstract

Annotation: the study of spoken English in modern society is a multifaceted and dynamic field that encompasses a wide range of linguistic, sociolinguistic, and pragmatic features. Spoken English reflects the diverse cultural, social, and technological influences of contemporary society. Globalization has played a significant role in shaping the features of spoken English, leading to the emergence of diverse varieties spoken by individuals from different linguistic backgrounds. Technological advancements have transformed spoken English, with digital communication tools contributing to new modes of interaction characterized by brevity and informality. Social media platforms have become important sites for the performance and negotiation of identity through spoken English. Regional variations in spoken English highlight linguistic diversity within English-speaking countries. Language change is a natural process that affects the features of spoken English, driven by social trends, technological innovations, and cultural influences. Overall, the study of spoken English in modern society provides valuable insights into the complex interplay between language, society, and culture in the digital age.
